Welcome

We are working to fulfil this vision

… by reaching out into the community with different initiatives God gives us‚ by encouraging local Christians to reach out to the local community too and by facilitating the work of visiting teams from other YWAM bases.

YWAM Leicester is called to be a community of co-workers active in the local community rather than a U of N campus and we live like our neighbours, in our own flats and houses.

Members of the YWAM community serve God in different contexts, such as by reaching out to university students, the homeless and to asylum seekers, and even in different locations within the city‚ but our sense of being a distinctive YWAM community is very important to us. Every member has a vocation – a call from God to be here. We meet together regularly to encourage and support each other.

Leicester is one of the most multicultural cities in England. More than 70,000 people (25%) are of Indian origin. Many others are from Sri Lanka and Pakistan, Bangladesh, North Africa, The Caribbean, The Middle East and Eastern Europe. Many of Leicester’s students are temporary visitors from overseas.

The major faith groups in the city live harmoniously, but tend to live in different neighbourhoods: Belgrave (Hindu), North Evington (Sikh) and Highfields (Muslim). YWAM Leicester staff are located in a number of different areas. Students are especially to found in Clarendon Park.
